Friday-to-Sabbath preparation checklist
Use this as a practical preparation guide, not a burden. Sabbath is for rest, worship, delight, mercy, and communion with God.
Home preparation
Clean the main spaces enough to rest without anxiety. Prepare simple meals before sunset when possible. Set aside work tasks and non-urgent errands.Spiritual preparation
Read the weekly Sabbath School lesson or a Gospel passage. Pray over the people you will meet at church. Choose a hymn, scripture, or family worship thought.Family and hospitality
Plan who needs encouragement or a call. Invite someone to share a meal or conversation. Prepare children for what Sabbath means and why it is joyful.Service and mercy
Look for a sick, lonely, grieving, or discouraged person to bless. Choose one practical act of kindness. Remember that Jesus healed and served on Sabbath.
